There must be a problem with the carb casting. I have had several people look at the engine and all are baffled. As the pick up tubes pass through the openings in the tank they are restricted enough that the carb body will not get past the slip joint of the cross over tube without using either method I have mentioned. Method B) Remove the tank which means removing head bolts. Method A) Remove the top shroud and loosen the cross over tube. There are two way that I found allow for removal of the carb body. As viewed from the front you will notice that there are a couple of head bolts on the left side which pass through a plate. Sparkplug, If you look carefully at the pictures from the above post you will see a shot where the head bolts are visible. I will post pics when I get time to take some. I don't see any welch plugs or small screws to adjust just the load jet. I will press that pin out and see where that takes me. It must have only been used for a short time. After doing some searching on the net I am finding very little on this carb. I have thought about pressing it out and cleaning there as it could be the air bleed for the idle/low speed inlet. the only other place on the carb where there is a passage is from the tank up to the main jet area and it has a slightly smaller pin that fits the hole and it appears to be pressed in. The large hole and small hole are clean and light shined into the intake can be seen through them. the load needle looks good and not dented. I have had the carb off and polished the valve holes on the pump with a cloth so they are smooth.

The only way it will run is with the throttle wide open.

The engine has tons of compression and the spark is really strong. The carb slips onto the intake tube and is held in place by the gas tank. I had a guy who knows Briggs look at it and he could not find any numbers either.
